PRINCIPALS, Please provide a copy of this reminder to each of your therapists and be certain that therapy services are in place in your school. Thank you!

My office has received a number of calls indicating that therapy services have not begun in some schools. This is a reminder that all therapy services must begin promptly on the first day of the school year and continue through the end of the school year.  Students' IEPs reflect that the services are provided throughout the year, and there should be no delay in the initiation of those services.  It is understood that many students receive therapy on a weekly or twice weekly basis and that as a result not all students will receive services on the first day of classes.  We also understand that student schedules often change during the first few days of school, but therapy services must begin and be adjusted as needed.  All therapists, whether assigned full time to the school or itinerant among schools, will need time with the school data prep clerk to assure that they have located all of their students.  We appreciate your support as we begin another busy year.
